Dre K. K. Geethakumary est professeure à l’Université de Calicut en Inde, où elle a aussi occupé le poste de directrice du Département de sanskrit et du Département de folklore ainsi que le poste de doyenne de la Faculté de langue et littérature. Avant de rejoindre l’Université de Calicut en 2004, elle était chargée de cours au Département de sanskrit sahitya à l’Université Sree Sankaracharya de sanskrit à Kalady (Inde). Elle a publié plus d’une trentaine de livres, dont Metre in Sanskrit. A Study with Special Reference to Vrttavartika of Ramapanivada (2008), et plus de 70 articles scientifiques. Elle a à son actif une trentaine d’années d’expérience en enseignement et en recherche, pendant lesquelles elle a été conférencière invitée à des universités en Asie et en Europe. Elle s’est associée aux différentes universités du Kerala à différents titres, notamment en tant que présidente du comité doctoral et des études supérieures et présidente du comité de conformité interne et responsable nodale de l’admission des étudiants transgenres. En reconnaissance de son travail d’érudition et son enseignement, Dre K. K. Geethakumary a reçu le prix Shiksha Rathan pour ses contributions exceptionnelles à l’éducation indienne, le prix d’excellence en éducation Bharat Rethna Rajeev Gandhi et le prix de dotation Guruvayoor Devaswam.
Dr. K.K. Geethakumary is a Professor at the University of Calicut (India), where she has also served as Chair of the Department of Sanskrit and the Department of Folklore as well as Dean of the Faculty of Language and Literature. Before joining the University of Calicut in 2004, she was a Lecturer in the Department of Sanskrit Sahitya at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady (India). Her publications include more than thirty books, among which Metre in Sanskrit. A Study with Special Reference to Vrttavartika of Ramapanivada (2008), and over seventy articles. Over her productive career spanning three decades, she has been invited to give lectures at universities throughout Asia and Europe. She has been associated with several universities in the State of Kerala (India) in various administrative capacities, such as chairperson of the Doctoral Committee and Post Graduate Board and chairperson of the Internal Compliant Committee of Transgender students’ admission. In recognition of her work as both scholar and educator, Dr. K.K. Geethakumary has been the recipient of the Shiksha Rathan Award (for outstanding contributions to Indian Education), the Bharat Rethna Rajeev Gandhi Educational Excellence Award, and the Guruvayoor Devaswam Endowment Prize.
